城大創立本港首間以跨學科互動研究為主的「香港跨學科高等研究院」，並於1月12日舉行開幕典禮，旨在綜合人文、社會和自然科學多角度制定改善社會的政策，推動本港持續發展。

校長郭位教授論教研關係的著作《知難行易‧教研合一》（簡體字中文版）於2011年1月由北京清華大學出版，並被列入清華大學百年校慶系列出版物。
城大獲香港建造商會慷慨捐助，供建築系及建築科技學部設立獎學金，獎勵成績傑出的學生，並資助與建造業相關的研究，藉此促進本地建造業的發展。
4月30日，在傑出教學獎牌匾揭幕儀式上，校長張信剛教授說：“牌匾將提醒我們：城大是教與學的中心。過去10年來，我們一直將教學質量作為城大的中心主題，沒有誰能比我們在此看到的這些名字更能體現這一精神。”牌匾上刻有自從1993年傑出教學獎建立以來所有獲獎教師的姓名，在牌匾遷入教學樓入口處之際，城大專門為其舉行了揭幕儀式。

On 27th, March, CityU students excelled once again in the 6th Intervarsity Putonghua Recitation Contest.
Today, in the first ever open forum for staff by a serving Council Chairman, Sir Gordon Wu laid out his plans for the University over the next few years: to situate the new Community College on campus, to map out a campus development plan to meet future growth of student numbers, and to improve management and staff interaction and co-operation.
