The first IT training and certification programme officially recognized by the mainland government is to be operated by CityU, helping bring Hong Kong's standard of assessment for IT education in line with the national certification standard, and thereby enhancing mainland job prospects for local talent.
在2002年7月才剛剛從澳洲梅鐸大學抵港作為期六個月交換生的Tomas Collins，對城大及香港的生活感到十分興奮。現正修讀公共及社會行政學系三年級課程的Tomas說：「這真是一次大開眼界的生活體驗。我對香港及本地學生能說多種語言留下特別深刻的印象。在澳洲，英語是通用語言，但城大的同學都卻能說流利的英語、廣東話及普通話。」
城大與美國休斯敦大學制訂了交換生協議。去年年初，應用社會科學系兩名社工課程三年級學生熊冬玲及黎鳳儀被送派赴美交流。由於該校沒有開辦社工學士課程，兩人遂「跳級」修讀碩士課程。留學期間，兩人的學術表現超卓，熊冬玲同學取得4.0分平均積點的驕人成績，黎鳳儀同學也拿到3.89分的優異成績。
It was "what I did on my summer holiday" with a twist. At a ceremony on 6 October, CityU students and teachers demonstrated-through drama, dance, voice and sign language-the value of their cross-cultural field trips to a host of Asian countries this summer.
