CityU CAReer Launch Scheme Returns with Additional Funding, Creating near 2,300 Job Opportunities for Graduates

City University of Hong Kong (CityU) relaunched the CityU CAReer Launch Scheme 3.0 (CARLS 3.0) this year, increasing the subsidy to HK$7,000 per month, creating over 2,280 job opportunities for graduates of the Class of 2022. It provides comprehensive employment services for CityU graduates, such as professional one-on-one career consultation, job-matching, CV reviewing and job application advice.

Enhancement of CARLS 3.0
CityU allocated HK$6.8 million for CARLS 3.0 as a job matching fund for employers. The subsidy provides one-third of each graduate’s salary for up to three months, capped at HK$7,000 per month. Its aim is to encourage Hong Kong employers to recruit CityU talent and provide job opportunities for fresh graduates.

Professor Raymond Chan Hon-fu, Vice-President (Student Affairs), said, “As the pandemic continues, the global economy remains mired in uncertainty. We are therefore determined to help our graduates navigate the challenging job market by equipping them to grasp market trends and information as early as possible. CARLS has joined hands with companies to open up new job opportunities for CityU graduates and unleash their potential.”

CARLS 3.0 provides all-in-one support for graduates to plan their future career paths and to help them find their first ideal job. Under CARLS 3.0, a dedicated team of College-based Careers and Employability Consultants provides career coaching and employer networking opportunities for graduates to help them succeed in the recruitment process and equip them with appropriate approaches and skillsets. The aim is to enhance their employability by helping them understand their strengths and provide support in their transition from school to the workplace.

CityU also helps students find suitable jobs through an online employment database, JobPlus, and disseminates the latest job vacancy notification to graduates via SMS. This comprehensive support from CityU will be extended to 31 August 2023 for Class of 2022 graduates, so they can continue to receive employment information and assistance for up to a year after graduation.

Since its establishment, CARLS has received enthusiastic support from many corporate partners for three consecutive years. As of today, over 2,280 full-time job vacancies have been received from a broad number of sectors, including offers from renowned corporates, such as (in alphabetical order): Hip Hing Construction Co. Ltd., Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Hutchison Telecommunications (Hong Kong) Limited, Kerry Logistics (Hong Kong) Limited, Kum Shing Group, Lalamove, Mazars CPA Limited, PCCW, RSM Hong Kong, Swire Resources Limited, The Bank of East Asia Limited, the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, and the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management.
