CityU confers Honorary Fellowships on three distinguished persons

 

The title of Honorary Fellow was conferred on three distinguished persons by City University of Hong Kong (CityU) in recognition of their distinctive contributions to the development of, and service to, the University and the community.

The distinguished persons are:

  • Mr Chan Yung, a senior registered social worker and Legislative Council member;
  • Mr Dominic Pang Yat-ting, Chairman and Executive Director of Asia Allied Infrastructure Holdings Limited;
  • Professor Tinly Wong Tin-chee, Executive Director of Wong To Yick Wood Lock Ointment Limited, Founder and Executive Director of Herbalgy Pharmaceutical Limited.

Officiating at the ceremony on 28 September were Mr Lester Garson Huang, Council Chairman, and Professor Freddy Boey, University President.

In his address, Mr Huang said the three new Honorary Fellows have forged a deep friendship with CityU over the years. “We are happy that they have accepted our Fellowships, and we look forward to working together to benefit CityU and Hong Kong,” he said.

Mr Huang reflected on CityU’s recent development on areas such as outreach, promoting innovation and creativity, and stated the new Fellows are integral to CityU’s plans. “The experience and wisdom of our Fellows will impact how we advance as an institution over the coming years,” he said.

Addressing the audience on behalf of the Honorary Fellows, Mr Pang said CityU stands proudly at the cutting edge of research that improves human life and advances society, thereby boosting its international reputation. “My fellow awardees and I are heartened by CityU’s vision and mission, and we reflect optimistically on its development trajectory.” He added that the Honorary Fellows pledge to support CityU to the best of their capabilities.
