CityU Health Centre has completed renovations for safeguarding student and staff health
The opening ceremony for the renovated Young Chung-Yee Health Centre (Medical Clinic and Dental Clinic) (Health Centre) was held by City University of Hong Kong (CityU) on 24 April. Starting from today (25 April), CityU students, staff, and faculty can enjoy better services at the Health Centre with enhanced hardware and software.
CityU values student and staff well-being. President Way Kuo of CityU initiated the renovation of the Health Centre last year to provide better on-campus medical service for all students and staff. After a year-long project, the dental clinic reopened earlier while the refurbishment works for the medical clinic have been completed recently. To celebrate the Health Centre reaching its milestone, President Kuo joined senior management and medical staff at the Health Centre to host the opening ceremony.
President Kuo expressed his gratitude to the medical staff at the Health Centre for always safeguarding the health of the CityU community. “Since the Health Centre has been in use for almost two decades, the renovations were carried out under the latest healthcare standards to cope with future demand,” he said.
CityU attaches great importance to the green building code of practice, using green building materials, energy-efficient installations and energy-saving appliances. Moreover, the consultation and treatment areas now offer more effective services and treatment. In addition, following input from the Health Centre’s doctors and nurses, antibacterial paintwork, an enhanced ventilation system, an isolation room, and maximised natural daylight from the full-height window walls in the waiting area have been installed.
Staff can now make use of a new online appointment and e-ticket system for medical services via the CityU Mobile App, which will reduce waiting time while the computer system at the Health Centre has been upgraded to accommodate e-records.
