CityU graduates’ full-time employment rate ranked highest among UGC-funded universities

The full-time employment rate for graduates from City University of Hong Kong (CityU) hit 96.6% in 2021, the highest among the eight publicly funded universities, according to the latest graduate employment data released by the University Grants Committee (UGC). These figures represent a record high compared to CityU’s employment figures over the past 10 years.

The data was drawn from the UGC’s Employment Situation of Graduates of Full-time UGC-funded Undergraduate Programmes by University in Hong Kong for 2020/21.

In addition, the average annual salary for CityU graduates increased by around 16% compared to last year’s figures, which is the highest increment among the eight universities for 2021.

Focusing on its core mission, CityU promotes the integration of research and teaching. Its world-class faculty use innovative approaches to cultivate creative, responsive leaders in possession of international perspectives and highly effective communication skills. The education journey at CityU teaches students career-related knowledge and skills for their future needs.

In response to the impact of the pandemic on the global job market, and under the leadership of President Way Kuo, CityU took the lead in setting aside HK$10 million for the CAReer Launch Scheme (CARLS) in June 2020, the first university-corporate partnership among Hong Kong’s eight universities. CARLS helps graduates secure their dream jobs amid the global economic challenges caused by the pandemic.

“Drawing on the enthusiastic effort and support of Professor Raymond Chan Hon-fu, Vice-President (Student Affairs), our colleges and schools, the Career and Leadership Centre in Student Development Services, and our employer partners, CityU graduates are fully equipped with the knowledge and skills needed for their future careers,” said President Kuo.

CityU has successfully offered fresh graduates comprehensive employment support for the past three years plus an enhanced matching fund for employers who provide work opportunities through CARLS. Over the past three years, more than 9,000 job vacancies have been solicited for CityU graduates as of August 2022.
