Best practice shared at international social work conference

Sharing knowledge and best practice for practicum education in social work in both local and global contexts were the focus for around 150 international academics and practitioners at an international conference hosted by City University of Hong Kong (CityU) on 20 and 21 May.

The event, titled “Discovery and Innovation in Social Work Practicum Education”, also explored a model for collaborative learning fieldwork practicum.

Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Hong Kong SAR Government, and Professor Way Kuo, President of CityU, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.

Professor Marion Bogo of the University of Toronto, Canada, Professor Imogen Taylor of the University of Sussex, UK, and Professor Jill Wilson of the University of Queensland, Australia, were the keynote speakers.

The event was organised by the Department of Applied Social Sciences, CityU, and co-organised by the Department of Social Work and Social Administration of the University of Hong Kong, and the Department of Social Work of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

This event was funded by the University Grants Committee's Funding Scheme for Teaching and Learning Related Initiatives.
