Around 500 students from different regions and countries promoted unity at the Joint Hall Dinner held at the Student Residence of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) on 3 March. The theme of this year’s special occasion is “Hall in Love”, which reflects love and the sense of unity among the hall residents. The dinner offered a good opportunity for students, residence masters, staff and alumni of different cultures to get together and exchange their views. It was organised by the Residents’ Associations and supported by the Student Residence Office.

Among the attendees were Professor Horace Ip Ho-shing, Vice-President (Student Affairs), Dr Raymond Chan Kwok-hong, Dean of Students, and Dr Wong Chi-tim, Director of Student Development Services. In his welcoming speech, Professor Ip highlighted that while we embrace diversity in a community, we should also identify common grounds and work towards common goals that benefit the community as a whole. And the theme for this year's Joint Hall Dinner is a shining example of uniting people, from different nationalities, different cultures and different disciplines, in the love and care for each other.

An array of entertaining programmes was arranged such as a talent show and band performances. One of the highlights was the hugely enjoyable raffle.
