Pui Chan

Dr Chan Chun-tung, Chairman of Chaifa Holdings Ltd and a distinguished alumnus of City University of Hong Kong (CityU), shared his long and valuable experience in the business world at the Business Leader Forum on 10 October. His talk was titled “Being poor does not matter”.

At the forum, Dr Chan encouraged students to draw on the strong Hong Kong spirit to overcome difficulties. This approach had helped him get through a couple of extreme hardships over the last 20 years. “To expect success, to be prepared for failure, but never to give up” was his motto, he said.

Dr Chan, a successful entrepreneur with an Executive Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Business Administration at CityU, has served in several public posts over the years. He has contributed significantly to the development of the University, leading to his becoming one of the first two recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award, introduced in 2009, and an Honorary Fellow in 2011. He is currently a member of the CityU Court.

Successful Hong Kong business leaders share their experience with students at the Business Leader Forum, which is organised by the Department of Marketing.
