President addresses reliability in energy development at international symposium
Professor Way Kuo, an academician of the International Academy of Quality, has pioneered research into the reliability of electronics systems and nuclear energy, making breakthroughs in nano reliability research in recent years.
“Research today should be ‘problem-driven’ rather than ‘assumption-oriented’ to anticipate and meet societal needs,” said Professor Kuo in his keynote speech titled “Reliability and survivability: the future of energy”.
We have to take into consideration energy sources, reliability, sustainability and economic growth when developing energy, he added. Accountability, research and learning, social responsibility are the three key elements for the “inclusive growth” of higher education in the 21st century, he continued.
More than 300 visitors from all over the world attended the symposium, which was themed “Quality, Innovation and Inclusive Growth”. The event was organised by the China Association for Quality, the International Academy for Quality, the Shanghai Association for Quality, and the Shanghai Academy of Quality Management.
