The second Induction Ceremony of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma was held today (26 February), with prominent business leader Mr Peter Wong Tung-shun, JP, inducted as this year’s CityU Chapter Honouree and 126 distinguished business students and graduates from the College of Business as lifetime members.

An international society that serves business schools accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International, Beta Gamma Sigma encourages and honours academic achievements in the study of business, and fosters personal and professional excellence.

A highlight of the ceremony was the conferment of the Chapter Honouree Award to Mr Peter Wong Tung-shun, JP, Group Managing Director of HSBC Holdings and Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation by Professor Wei Kwok-kee, Dean of the College of Business.

Mr Wong said he was honoured to be inducted as the CityU Chapter Honouree. “The College of Business strives to nurture future business leaders with a global mindset, and offers excellent programmes that prepare students for tomorrow,” he said.

Professor Wei said the fact the College is accredited by three leading agencies, including AACSB International, European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) and Association of MBAs (AMBA), reinforces its dedication to excellence and quality education, and the CityU Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma further exemplifies its academic standing internationally.

A total of 126 BBA, MBA, EMBA, master’s and doctoral students and graduates joined the CityU Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma this year, the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive from a business school accredited by AACSB International.
