Two new associate degrees for 2001

Theresa Fox

The College of Higher Vocational Studies will launch two new two-year full-time associate degree programmes in September 2001—the Associate of Business Administration in Electronic Commerce and Web Technology (ABA) and the Associate of Arts in General Studies (AAGS).

In a programme that will provide a solid foundation in both business and technical issues, the initial intake of 120 students in the ABA will learn how the latest Internet technology concepts fit together in business applications. The ABA will use real e-commerce case studies and students will take part in projects with industrial clients who cater to the needs of the business community.

The initial intake of 130 students in the AAGS will be provided with a broad-based, liberal education in the first programme of its kind to be offered at College-level at CityU. Students will take courses in six areas, including Language and Communication, Culture and Civilization, IT, Science and Engineering, Social Studies and Business Studies. They will be able to pick an area of concentration related to their interests and needs and to choose from more than 300 College courses to satisfy the programme requirements.
