Venue: P4302, 4/F, Purple Zone, Academic 1, City University of Hong Kong, Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon Tong.

Researchers from the Department of Applied Social Studies (SS) at City University of Hong Kong will discuss how to identify symptoms of anxiety among junior school students and how to provide assistance.
By understanding the origin of anxiety, parents and teachers may take precautionary measures, according to a survey conducted by Professor Daniel Wong Fu-keung and Dr Sylvia Kwok Lai Yuk-ching, Associate Professor, both in SS.
They carried out a study of anxiety among junior primary school students in collaboration with the Community Services Division, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. Questionnaires were sent to parents and teachers of primary school children between February and June this year. More than 300 questionnaires were collected.
A previous survey had revealed that anxiety levels among primary school students in Hong Kong were rather high, especially among higher primary school students. This new survey focuses on junior primary school children.
