Inauguration of CityUHK Alumni Ambassador Programme marks a new chapter in alumni engagement
City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) hosted the 2026 CityUHK Alumni Ambassador Programme Inauguration Ceremony on 17 August, marking a new milestone for the programme.
The evening brought together University representatives and some fifty notable alumni in celebration of their shared bond with CityUHK. Professor Chun-Sing Lee, Acting President, delivered a warm welcome address, highlighting the University's recent achievements, including its impressive performance of being ranked among the top 100 in the four major world university rankings—Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), Times Higher Education (THE), ShanghaiRanking's Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) and U.S. News & World Report—for two consecutive years. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the alumni community for their steadfast support that plays an important role in CityUHK’s growth and success.
At the ceremony, a certificate presentation was held to honour the newly appointed Alumni Ambassadors, who will serve as proud advocates of CityUHK, strengthening the University’s reputation and fostering closer ties with its global alumni community. The programme also featured a sharing session by Professor Shirley Chong, Chief Communications and Global Affairs Officer, who shared her insights with the guests and discussed how Alumni Ambassadors can continue contributing to the University's growth and excellence.
The event concluded with a heartfelt sharing session led by Ms Grace Liang, Director of the Alumni Relations Office. Alumni leaders reflected on their personal journeys with CityUHK, recounting the cherished memories and transformative experiences. The inspiring exchanges reaffirmed the strong bond within the CityUHK alumni community, demonstrating that despite the diverse backgrounds and professions, alumni are united by a shared passion for the University. Professor Stephen Shum Wan-hang, Dean of the College of Business, also attended the event to support and interact with the alumni leaders.
Alumni Ambassadors joining the event included members of the Council Mr Robert Lui Chi-wang, and Dr Steve Chuang Tzu-hsiung; Mr Gabriel Ho Kai-pong, Chairman of the Convocation; members of the Court Professor Andrew Fan Ka-fai, Professor Gary Cheng Faat-ting, and Dr Allen Shi Lop-tak; senior alumni leaders Ms Jenny Chan Pik-ha, Professor Dilys Chau Suet-fung, Mr Simon Hui Hing-tak and Professor Michael Leung Kin-man; Dr Toa Charm Ka-ieong, Chairman of CityUHK DBA Alumni Association; Ms Jesse Yau Siu-yin, Chairman of CityUHK EMBA Association; Dr Rocky Lam Chi-ming, President of CityUHK Engineering Doctorate Society; Mr Kay Chan Kwok-wai, Chairman of the Alumni Association of CityUHK School of Law; Mr Andy Li Koon-chung, Chairman of Alumni Association of CityUHK Department of Decision Analytics and Operations; and many notable alumni.
