Classroom B5-208 in the Yeung Kin Man Academic Building at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has been named the “Pao Ho Mei Chun Classroom” in appreciation of the generous support of Mrs Pao Ho Mei-chun.

Mrs Pao is a low-profile philanthropist who has made generous donations to education, medical and social service sectors over the years. Her donation to CityU will be used in support of the University’s development and student exchange initiatives.

A naming ceremony on 10 January was attended by Mrs Pao and her family and friends,  Professor Way Kuo, CityU President, Professor Matthew Lee Kwok-on, Vice-President (Development and External Relations), and Ms Kathy Chan Yin-ling, Associate Vice-President (Development and Alumni Relations).

In his welcome speech, Professor Kuo thanked Mrs Pao for her unfailing support and for her gift. “It is Mrs Pao’s first donation to a university and we are so honoured that she chose CityU. We aim to broaden students’ international horizon and develop our graduates into global citizens. Mrs Pao’s generous support will help to empower our students with international experience.”

Mrs Pao’s motto “Be compassionate and endurant” has been inscribed in the classroom as a way to encourage CityU students to care about others and be more tolerant of others.
