President praises firefighters for saving lives

Professor Way Kuo, President of City University of Hong Kong (CityU), delivered a speech as the principal guest of honour at the 58th Annual Dinner of the Institution of Fire Engineers (Hong Kong Branch) on 24 March.
 
Mr Andy Yeung Yan-kin, President of the Institution, thanked CityU’s School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) for nurturing fire engineering professionals over the years.
 
SCOPE offers bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes related to fire engineering in collaboration with the University of Central Lancashire.
 
Professor Kuo praised the fire services for doing so much for people’s safety, adding that CityU was honoured to contribute to the industry by offering related programmes. He also encouraged CityU alumni at the dinner party to suggest how to further enhance CityU’s programmes.
 
Guests attending the dinner party included Dr Louis Ma Chee-Keung, Director of SCOPE, Professor Lo Siu-ming, Associate Head of CityU’s Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering (ACE), and Professor Richard Yuen Kwok-kit of ACE.
 
Founded in 1954, the Institution promotes and improves the science and practice of fire extinction, fire prevention and fire engineering.
