Delegation promotes CityU in UK, France

A delegation led by Professor Way Kuo, President of City University of Hong Kong (CityU), strengthened research and collaboration opportunities with institutions in the UK and France during visits in early February.
 
Members of the delegation included Professor Lu Jian, Vice-President (Research and Technology); Professor Richard Allen, Dean of the School of Creative Media; Professor Chan Chak-keung, Dean of the School of Energy and Environment; and Professor Xie Min, Associate Dean of the College of Science and Engineering.
 
At the University of Oxford, the delegation explored collaboration opportunities during meetings with Professor Louise Richardson, Vice-Chancellor, and Professor Ian Walmsley, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation). At the University of Cambridge, the delegation exchanged ideas on programmes during visits to various departments and laboratories.
 
Cambridge and Oxford are positioned 4th and 6th respectively in the latest QS World University Rankings.
 
In addition, the delegation visited the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) and met with Professor Roger Cashmore, the Chairman, and Professor Ian Chapman, the CEO. They also toured the UKAEA facilities such as the Materials Research Facility, the Joint European Torus, and Remote Applications in Challenging Environments.
 
Meanwhile, in France, around 70 scholars, professors and PhD students learn about CityU’s research successes and strategic direction at a reception for talent search in Lyon on 4 February.
