Over 1,200 members of the community of City University of Hong Kong (CityU), led by Professor Way Kuo, CityU President, raced in the annual Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon on 25 January.

Thanks to the support of the CityU community, including students, staff members, alumni and their family members, CityU was ranked fifth at the Hong Kong Marathon “Most Supportive Group Award”, which recognises the top 10 marathon groups with the most participants registered.

Professor Kuo and most CityU athletes participated in the 10-kilometre, while others participated in the half- and full marathon. They demonstrated great enthusiasm and a strong team spirit at this annual sports event. Their morale was further boosted by the cheering from the support team.

Two CityU students notched up impressive results. Lui Wai-man, a Year 3 student in the Department of Management, came first in the Women’s Half Marathon (Local), and Fan Ka-king, a Year 3 student in the Department of Marketing, was the first runner-up in both the 10km Challenge Women’s Overall and Senior races.
