Social work conference promotes social sustainability

Cathy Lau

Experts from around the world shared their insights on promoting social sustainability in Asia at the “2014 Conference on Social Work and Social Sustainability in Asia” from 19 to 20 June at City University of Hong Kong (CityU).

The Conference provided a platform for practitioners, academics and students in social work to exchange views, share good practices and identify future service directions and intervention strategies in promoting and implementing social sustainability.

Professor Way Kuo, President of CityU, and Professor Lo Tit-wing, Head of CityU’s Department of Applied Social Studies, officiated at the opening ceremony on 19 June.

The two-day conference was co-organised by CityU’s Department of Applied Social Studies, the CityU Social Work Alumni Association, the Hong Kong Social Workers’ Association, and the Hong Kong Academy of Social Work.
