Members of the Senate attended a ceremony on 5 November to celebrate the opening of the new Senate Room which is located at the top floor of Academic 3.
Professor Way Kuo, University President, officiated at the ceremony, welcoming members of the Senate, the body responsible for all academic matters at City University of Hong Kong (CityU), to the new facilities.
“The Senate plays a vital role in the life of CityU, and so it is appropriate that our wonderful new Senate Room has such a prominent position on campus,” Professor Kuo said.
Members of the CityU senior management team joined the President for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to signal the opening of the Senate Room.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Senate had its first meeting for the academic year 2013–2014, followed by a roasted pig cutting ceremony and tea reception.
At the Senate meeting, it was unanimously decided to establish the Department of Biomedical Sciences. This decision marks another exciting chapter in the development of CityU, enabling our faculty and students to contribute positively to Hong Kong and the world.
