Two hundred proud student athletes from City University of Hong Kong (CityU) celebrated their victory in the overall men’s and women’s championships in the annual joint university sports competition this year for an unprecedented seventh time.

With the trophies on display at a prize presentation ceremony on 31 May, the athletes shared their passionate stories about how sport has positively changed their lives and expressed their heartfelt thanks to their coaches from CityU’s Student Development Services.

Mr Herman Hu Shao-ming, Council Chairman of CityU, and Professor Way Kuo, CityU President, received the grand slam trophies from the student athlete representatives on behalf of the University. Prizes were also presented to outstanding athletes, team managers, coaches and trainers.
“The secret to CityU’s sporting success are strong communication, great team spirit and mental toughness,” said Fifi Lung Tsz-wang, captain of the women’s volleyball team and a Year 2 student from the Department of Chinese, Translation and Linguistics.
