One hundred and fifteen senior citizens received certificates at a ceremony on 20 May after completing courses in 2012–2013 at the Elder Academy of City University of Hong Kong (CityU).
Mr Chow Wing-hang, Principal Assistant Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Dr Leong Che-hung, Chairman of the Committee on Elder Academy Development Foundation, and Dr Cheung Chor-yung, Dean of Students at CityU, congratulated the students and presented the certificates.
CityU launched the Elder Academy in 2008 in cooperation with the Elderly Commission and the Labour and Welfare Bureau. The project encourages senior citizens to take part in education, improve well-being and maintain a sense of worthiness. It also promotes inter-generational solidarity and cross-sector collaboration.
