Campus exhibition explores graffiti art

Joan Yip

A unique street art exhibition at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) is showcasing more than 30 photos of amazing graffiti captured at hidden spots around Hong Kong by Professor Chang Tsan-kuo, a professor in the Department of Media and Communication. The images were taken as part of a year-long research project to record and study local graffiti culture.

Visitors can flip through Professor Chang’s new book on graffiti and test their creativity by producing their own graffiti at the exhibition, which runs from 6 to 13 November in the Purple Zone, 4/F Academic 1 at CityU.

Professor Chang and three local graffiti artists will share their thoughts about the many underlying cultural and social connotations associated with graffiti at a talk at the Run Run Shaw Library at 3pm on 16 November.
