Thirty-four Year 2 students from the Department of Applied Social Studies (SS) at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) were named as Student Leaders under the Project for Learning Excellence (Project X) at the X-Gala on 11 October.
Project X, a non-credit bearing co-curricular programme established since 2008, helps Year 1 students in SS adjust to university life, prepare for life-long learning, learn how to be strong candidates for the job market, and contribute to the community. The project’s nominated Student Leaders will support freshmen through various Project X activities, such as learning communities, training camps, Community Awareness Projects and workshops.

Guests attending the ceremony included Professor Arthur Ellis, Provost of CityU, and Professor Dennis Wong Sing-wing, Associate Dean (Student Life and Learning) of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the Acting Head of SS; Dr Alice Chong Ming-lin, Convenor of Project X and Associate Professor of SS, and representatives from other local universities and non-governmental organisations.
