Energy consumption, climate change and pollution issues were the topics under discussion at a five-day series of talks for secondary school students at City University of Hong Kong (CityU).

The series was offered by the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) from 4-8 July. The aim was to increase awareness about energy and environmental issues and strengthen CityU’s ties with secondary schools.

More than 800 secondary students heard talks on global warming, the impact of energy on evolution, the use of microorganisms to tackle environmental problems, El Niño, extreme weather, and the applications of nanotechnology.

The speakers included Professor Johnny Chan Chung-leung, Dean of SEE, Dr Michael Leung Kwok-hi, Associate Professor, and Dr Patrick Lee Kwan-hon, Dr Zhou Wen, and Dr Teoh Wey-yang, Assistant Professors of the school.
