New humanities and social sciences scholarships

Starting from the academic year 2002-03, CityU will introduce scholarships to recognize outstanding freshmen in the humanities and social sciences disciplines who have excelled in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination.

The new scholarships, which amount to HK$25,000 each, will be offered to full-time freshmen enrolled in Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences programmes with a total UGC score of 15 or better in two Advanced Level (AL), or one AL and two Advanced Supplementary Level (AS) subjects, other than AS Use of English and AS Chinese Language and Culture.

The Faculty, through its four constituent departments, offers a total of 19 programmes at bachelor's and postgraduate degree levels. In September 2001, the Department of Public and Social Administration and the Department of Applied Social Studies jointly began four new Bachelor of Social Sciences degree (BSSc) programmes: Policy Studies and Administration, Social Studies, East and Southeast Asian Studies, and Social Work.
