Strengthening mainland ties

In an effort to strengthen its academic ties with universities and research institutes, City University of Hong Kong President, Professor H K Chang, is leading a CityU delegation to the mainland. The visit runs from 23 to 28 April.

 

The CityU delegation will visit four northern cities: Beijing, Tianjin, Jinan and Qingdao, where they will make stops at Peking University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing Institute of Technology, Tianjin University, Shandong University, Ocean University of Qingdao, Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhong Guan Cun Science Park, and Tianjin Hi-Tech Industry Park.

 

Members of the mission include Professor Y S Wong, Vice-President (Institutional Advancement); Professor Roderick Wong, Dean of Faculty of Science and Engineering; Professor Matthew Chen, Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Professor Rudolf Wu, Director of the Centre for Coastal Pollution and Conservation; Professor Zhang Longxi, Director of theCentre for Cross-Cultural Studies; Professor Cheng Pei-kai, Director of the Chinese Civilisation Centre; and Ms Alice Wong, Senior Executive Officer at the Academic Exchange Office.

 

Professor Chang will deliver two lectures during the visit. The first will be concern "Innovative Industry, Culture, Technology and Economic Growth". The lecture is expected to attract an audience of over 200 experts in science and technology, including entrepreneurs and government officials. In his second lecture, Professor Chang will deliver a talk entitled "A Millennium Ago" for teachers and students at Shandong University.
