城大着重「文修武德」，致力培育學生精進學問、遊於六藝（六藝即禮、樂、射、御、書、數）；除着重學術卓越，亦強調運動和音樂。城大設有「學生運動員入學計劃」及「海外傑出運動員入學計劃」，歷年共取錄約1,200名優秀運動員，讓他們可以兼顧學業與頻繁的訓練和比賽，實踐運動員夢想，在不同賽事中發光發亮。
