First certificate course on mobile commerce

CityU and Hewlett Packard (HP) Hong Kong Ltd have joined forces in an effort to teach the ins and outs of mobile-commerce (m-commerce) to industry leaders. The Division of Commerce and HP offered the first m-commerce certificate course in January.

The course, which emphasizes both technical knowledge and commercial applications, attracted 29 executives, some from local giants such as Cathay Pacific and Pacific Century CyberWorks. Similar self-financed courses will be offered again in March.

Dr Osward Siu, Division of Commerce Head, said CityU plans to offer 12 short courses relating to e-commerce and m-commerce over the next two years. He explained that these courses will be of value to the service industry as well as small and medium enterprises.

The signing ceremony for the CityU-HP partnership, officiated by Mr Stanley Au, Director of CityU's Business Operations Office, and Mr Patrick Wong, Director (HP Services), was held on 29 January.
