A newly launched vision for the future development of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) further establishes our identity as a world-class university.

The Strategic Plan 2020–2025: World-class Research and Education spotlights the evolution of CityU’s vision by building on and advancing the aspirations embedded in our last two plans, for 2010–2015 and 2015–2020.

The new Plan’s five key interdisciplinary research areas – One Health, Digital Society, Smart City, Matter, and Brain – would facilitate these aspirations.

The Plan outlines the integrated, cutting-edge curriculum that has been designed to nurture the next generation of professionals and transform students into creative global citizens who are capable of solving problems efficiently, communicating effectively, and leading from the front.

In addition, five strategic themes stand as our response to the rapid transformation of the economic, societal, and technological landscape in recent years. These themes are education and student development; research and knowledge transfer; faculty and staff advancement; campus growth and sustainability; and global identity and university advancement.

The Plan is the outcome of three stages of campus-wide consultations that took place between May and October 2019. The process was conducted through face-to-face in-depth interviews, focus group interviews and online consultations. Various instruments were deployed to collect information and to solicit input from the University community and stakeholders.
