Professor Kuo discusses University developments with alumni.
Professor Kuo shared that the CityU’s rising status in global rankings was recognition of the strength and excellence of our research, faculty, students and graduates. The University was now ranked 55th in the world, 7th in Asia, 3rd in Hong Kong and 4th in the world under 50 years of age in 2016, according to Quacquarelli Symonds.

Professor Kuo added that SVM would commence a six-year bachelor’s degree programme in veterinary medicine in the academic year 2017-18. The programme would promote One Health and sustainable development, and expand education choices and career paths for the youth. He added that this programme had been jointly developed by SVM and the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University to meet the Australasian Veterinary Board Council’s accreditation standards.

Internationalisation was one of the key areas set out in the University’s Strategic Plan.  Professor Kuo shared a number of initiatives to enhance students’ international exposure including the global work attachment scheme and non-local exchange programmes. He shared that 50% of undergraduate students had participated in overseas exchanges and 65% was the target for the coming years.
