CityU alumni practise brain exercises at Happy Hour Gathering

Alumni Relations Office

The Happy Hour Gathering organised by the Alumni Relations Office (ARO) of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) on 9 January enjoyed a full house with over 270 alumni coming back to campus to test out basic memory techniques.

Mr Joseph Chow Shiu-wing, our School of Law alumnus and one of the founders of the Hong Kong Memory Sports Council, kicked-off the gathering, themed “Effective Memory: Boosting Your Brainpower”, by highlighting the fun of memory sports such as the World Memory Championships—the world’s greatest test of memory.

The audience then practised brain exercises with Mr Andy Fong Tsz-kit, the Council President. He shared some tips on how to unlock brainpower by demonstrating ways to memorise numbers, vocabularies and the order of playing cards. He also led the audience to take their brains to the “gymnasium” by playing interactive memory games.

The Happy Hour Gathering Series provides alumni with an interactive platform in which they and other guests from different professions or with special talents will be invited to share their insights and experiences.
