International mooting competition concluded successfully at CityU

 



The 4th International Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Mooting Competition was successfully held at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) from 28 July to 3 August.
 
A total of 19 teams of law students from around the world took part in the competition. After several rounds of competition, the team from the National Law University, Jodhpur, became the Winning Team in the final. The team from Hidayatulla National Law University was the Runner-up Team. The CityU team was the highest ranked team in the general rounds.
 
Officiating at the opening ceremony on 28 July were Mr Rimsky Yuen Kwok-keung, Secretary for Justice, HKSAR; Professor Tang Houzhi, Senior Adviser to the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC); Professor Way Kuo, CityU President; Professor Matthew Lee Kwok-on, Acting Chief-of-Staff; Professor Wang Guiguo, former Dean of the School of Law; and Dr Rajesh Sharma, Director of CityU’s International ADR Mooting Competition.
 
This innovative competition, a unique blend of arbitration and mediation processes as the means to resolve a simulated commercial dispute, was first initiated by CIETAC, CityU’s School of Law and Columbia Law School in 2010. This year, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law – Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific joined as a new collaborator.
