Beijing visit boosts academic ties

Senior personnel from City University of Hong Kong (CityU) explored academic exchanges and cooperation with major universities and research institutions in Beijing on a visit from 22 to 25 July.

Professor Way Kuo, University President, was joined by Professor Roderick Wong Sue-cheun, Vice-President (Development and External Relations), Professor Lu Jian, Dean of the College of Science and Engineering, and Professor Yan Houmin, Dean of the College of Business.

They met with Professor Chen Jining, President of Tsinghua University, Professor Wang Enge, President of Peking University, Professor Huai Jinpeng, President of Beihang University, Professor Deng Yong, Chairman of University Council and Executive Vice President of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), and Professor Wang Ying, Vice President of UCAS, Professor Yang Wei, President of National Natural Sciences Foundation of China, and Professor Sun Dongbo, Vice-President of the University of Science and Technology Beijing.

The CityU delegation also met Mr Wu Jinglian, one of China’s preeminent economists, and senior personnel and professionals in research institutions for nuclear engineering.

In addition, Professor Kuo discussed education and the development of science and technology in Hong Kong during an interview on the CRI Living-room Show at China Radio International.
