Christmas lights are all around. Every corner in town is filled with the festive seasonal atmosphere. The CityU campus is also filling up with joy and happiness: There are huge banners at the Pedestrian Entrance and the University Circle; colourful posters on the notice boards; staff from different departments are busy preparing the festivities; students who are still taking their exams find time for rehearsals, and much more. Everyone is gearing up for CityU’s 20th Anniversary Celebration – a party for all members at the University to get together and celebrate its 20th Birthday – to be held at , 20 December at the
University Circle
.

The function is organized by the 20th Anniversary Working Group on Sports/Cultural/Social Service/Promotional Activities. Members of the Working Group have met frequently to plan and coordinate details of the event, hoping to make it a memorable occasion. To celebrate the 20th Anniversary, many departments and offices have organized academic and cultural activities throughout this year. The festive highlight will be the Anniversary Celebration, which will mark another milestone in the University’s development.

“I would like to thank all students, alumni and staff who have worked so hard and devoted so much time to make the event a big hit. They have worked with great enthusiasm and devotion. I’m moved and would like to send my deep appreciation to all of them,” said Professor Y S Wong, Vice-President (Administration) and Convenor of the Working Group.

All the programmes that day will be performed by University staff, students, and alumni. These include: the Inter-Hall Tug-of-War Competition; enticing performances by CityU Philharmonic Orchestra and CityU alumnus, pop singer Mr Edwin Siu; a presentation of “Turn One to Five Awards”, and the completion of the World’s largest handprint painting.

The Anniversary Celebration will be officiated by Dr Alice Lam, Chairman of the University Grants Committee. Also present will be former and current Council Chairmen/ Members, Presidents, honorary award holders, and associates and friends of CityU. In addition to the many performances, there will be a light buffet lunch for all participants – a great time for members of the University to share food, memories of the good old days, and hopes for the future. All students, alumni and staff are cordially invited to attend this memorable occasion. Do mark your diary:  , 20 December (Monday) at the

University Circle
