Date: 2 June 2015 (Tuesday)
Time: Media pre-tour: 4pm
Opening reception: 6pm
Venue: 3/F, Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre, CityU, 18 Tat Hong Avenue, Kowloon
Fourteen spectacular artworks created by students from City University of Hong Kong’s School of Creative Media will showcase their discoveries about an expedition to the jungle caves of Vietnam at the exhibition “Fade to Black” from 3 to 13 June.
The artworks are the fruits of painstaking effort by 14 students who trekked across the Tu Lan cave system in Vietnam from 22 February to 1 March. The themes of the artworks include:
· the contrast between the silence of nature and noise in the city
· reflections on the impact of the Vietnam War
· the conflict between development and preservation, art/nature and technologies, and natural and artificial development
· a love of nature
· pollution
· culture and language
· isolation in a dense city
The media tour will be held in the afternoon of 2 June, followed by an opening reception.
