Dr Norman Leung Nai-pang, Pro-Chancellor, The Hon Leung Chun-ying, Council Chairman, and Professor Way Kuo, University President, officiated at the ceremony.

In his welcoming address, Mr Leung said it was a great pleasure to see that the four recipients’ generous service had been recognised, noting that their relentless support had helped make CityU one of the strongest institutions in Hong Kong and Asia.

On behalf of the Honorary Fellows, Dr Sun said CityU had matured after 25 years of vigorous growth and was on a path of steady development. He thanked the CityU community, its alumni, friends and many others for helping to establish a more caring image of the University. “Some listed companies in Hong Kong prefer to hire CityU graduates, a trend that shows how CityU is growing steadily in terms of its international academic status and research excellence, as seen in our rise up the world university league tables,” he said. On behalf of his fellow honorees, he emphasised that they would continue to contribute to the growth of CityU.
