ALiVE, which is located in Hong Kong Science Park, is the highly imaginative new research incubator and showcase for innovation in creative media set up by City University of Hong Kong (CityU).

A first in Hong Kong, ALiVE is an interdisciplinary research initiative of the School of Creative Media (SCM) at CityU. It aims to encourage the nurturing of creativity and talent, and enhance the development of Hong Kong’s creative industries. It is led by Chair Professor Jeffrey Shaw, Dean of SCM and Director of ALiVE, and Dr Sarah Kenderdine, Visiting Associate Professor of SCM and the Department of Chinese, Translation and Linguistics of CityU, and Research Director of ALiVE.

The laboratory will open on 25 June, and the inaugural exhibition will take place from 26 to 29 June. Guests attending the opening ceremony include two key partners of ALiVE - Mr Tim Hart, Director (Information Multimedia and Technology), Museum Victoria, and Dr Dennis Del Favero, Director, UNSW iCinema Centre for Interactive Cinema Research.

During a press tour prior to the opening ceremony, members of the media can experience spectacular immersive environments that will take them to the frontiers of art and science. Prof. Shaw and Dr Kenderdine will also take this opportunity to introduce the ALiVE facilities and their applications.

Assembly time: 3:00pm

Assembly venue: MTR University Station, exit to the bus terminus.

(There will be a free shuttle bus service to and from Hong Kong Science Park)

Notes to Media:

We recommend that members of the media bring their own lighting accessories for photography and video shooting because of the low-light environment at the exhibition venue.

Please register with Ms Fion Ng beforehand to reserve a place on the shuttle bus to Hong Kong Science Park.
