CityU CNY Staff Party 2020

Goodbye Pig, welcome Rat as City University of Hong Kong (CityU) celebrated the start of the Chinese New Year at a campus party organised by the Human Resources Office on 4 February. To avoid the gathering of crowds, the University hosted the staff party in an innovative format by having the celebration broadcast live for the first time.

Speaking at the event, Professor Way Kuo, University President, offered his very best wishes to everyone at CityU on behalf of the vice-presidents, deans and heads of units.

“The beginning of spring is the good day for this celebration. I wish a happy new year, good health and all the best to all of you. CityU will be doing great in the new year and continues to contribute to this community,” he said.

Highlights of the party included the eye dotting ceremony performed by President Kuo, the traditional Chinese lion dance, and the appearance of the God of Wealth, aka Dr David Cheng Xing, Director of Global Engagement, who wished everyone good luck for the upcoming year.

The celebration concluded with the much-anticipated lucky draw.
