Social caring award for President Kuo

Professor Way Kuo, President of City University of Hong Kong (CityU), was conferred the Asian Social Caring Leadership Award at the Nobel Laureate Series: Social Caring Pledge Scheme Award Presentation Ceremony on 5 June. He is a participating leader on the Social Caring Pledge Scheme.
The award recognises Professor Kuo’s contributions to achieving advancement in education, fostering sustainable development for the community, and promoting a culture of social innovation in his professional field.
Professor Kuo said at the event, which was organised by the Social Enterprise Research Institute and the Asian College of Knowledge Management, that Hong Kong promoted social care well and that the city could further enhance the development of society by strengthening innovation.
As an innovative university, CityU advocated the integration of teaching and research and strived to balance development and sustainability to fulfill its social enterprise responsibility, he added.
“We hope that our research can contribute to the well-being of society. For example, for energy and environmental protection, we actively promote the reduction and recycling of food waste. And our problem-oriented research projects respond directly to societal needs and boost scientific advancement and social innovation,” he said.
The Social Caring Pledge Scheme, signed and recognised by Nobel Laureates Professor Harald Zur Hausen and Professor Kurt Wüthrich, was holding its 5th award presentation ceremony this year.
