Two new Council members were briefed on the latest developments at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) during a campus tour on 4 February.
The tour was led by Professor Way Kuo, University President, and members of the senior management team.
Professor Kuo warmly welcomed the new members, Mr Thomas Cheung Tsun-yung, MH, Chairman of Chinagrowth Group Limited, and Dr Peter Ho Ka-nam, Managing Director of Techworld Industries Ltd.
Accompanied by the senior management team, the new members visited the facilities for research on millimeter-wave and terahertz technologies in the State Key Laboratory of Millimeter Waves in Academic 3.
They also viewed an exhibition organised by students from the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and learned about hall life at CityU during a walk around the student hostels.
Mr Cheung said he was deeply impressed by CityU’s state-of-the-art research and technology facilities as well as its outstanding achievements.
“CityU has an excellent management team and has achieved a great deal,” he said.
Dr Ho said CityU had made good progress over the years, especially in its steady rise in global rankings. He added that he was impressed by the top-notch teaching and research facilities.
“I hope CityU’s ranking will keep on rising and that CityU alumni can have an even stronger sense of belonging,” he said.
