Ceremony marks the establishment of Department of Chinese and History

The Department of Chinese and History (CAH) of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to signal the establishment of the department on 19 January.
Professor Way Kuo, University President, officiating at the ceremony, said it was important for universities in Hong Kong and mainland China to have departments of Chinese literature and history.
“We are proud that CAH will make CityU complete in terms of spirit,” said Professor Kuo.
Professor Zang Xiaowei, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS), said in his welcome speech that the establishment of CAH, the seventh department in CLASS, symbolised new energy and new aspirations.
Professor Arthur Ellis, Provost, and Professor Li Hsiao-ti, Head of CAH, also officiated at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which was followed by a roasted pig cutting ceremony. Representatives of other colleges, schools, departments and offices also attended.
