A collection of old Chinese land deeds and family papers has been donated by the world-renowned economist Professor Gregory C Chow to the Run Run Shaw Library of City University of Hong Kong (CityU).
Professor Chow is Emeritus Professor of Economics at Princeton University and Honorary Professor of CityU.
The donation of more than 200 papers in total greatly expands the Library’s existing land deeds collection, and provides historical economic data about China, particularly on Guangdong and Hong Kong.

In the talk, titled “An academic economist and an economic policy adviser”, he discussed his research on the demand for durable goods, the Chow test in econometrics, the accelerations principle, and other topics.
Professor Way Kuo, President of CityU, officiated at the ceremony and Professor Arthur Ellis, CityU Provost, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Professor Chow at the ceremony .
Mrs Paula Chow, Professor Chow’s wife, Professor Dai Longji, University Librarian of Macau University of Science and Technology, Professor Cheng Pei-kai, Director of the Chinese Civilisation Centre and Professor Steve Ching Hsiang-hoo, University Librarian of CityU, also attended.
