New members join CityU Council

A leading member of the professional community has been appointed by the Chief Executive of Hong Kong to the Council of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) with effect from 26 January 2012 to 31 December 2014.

The new member, Mrs Rebecca Lai Ko Wing-yee, JP, is the Director of Theological Education by Extension at the China Graduate School of Theology. She has a distinguished record of public service and was a well-respected member of the government’s Administrative Service. She was appointed Justice of the Peace by the government in 2007.

In addition, Mr Chan Ka-kui, BBS, JP, who joined the Council in 2009, has been re-appointed as an external member for a period of three years with effect from 1 January 2012.

Miss Karmen Chan Ka-man will continue to serve on the Council for a term of two years starting from 1 January 2012 after having been re-elected as Chairman of the Convocation. Professor Roderick Wong Sue-cheun, Vice-President (Development and External Relations), will also continue to serve on the Council as a Senate Representative for a term of three years starting from 1 January 2012.

Miss Jenny Lam Ching-nga and Mr Shan Guangcun, the elected Students’ Union President and postgraduate student member respectively, will serve for a term of one year each. Miss Lam’s term of office started on 1 January 2012 while Mr Shan’s term of office began on 15 November 2011.
