A Year 3 student in the Department of Applied Social Studies at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) produced an outstanding performance in the 10 km challenge of the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon on 20 February.

Yeung Shiu-lun (bottom left) came second in both the Men’s Overall and the Men’s Senior Division, clocking a time of 33 minutes and 12 seconds. Yeung Shiu-lun, a member of the CityU track and field and cross-country teams, undertook special training in Yunnan last summer in preparation for this event.

The 760-strong CityU team comprising students, alumni, staff and dependants was led by Professor Way Kuo, University President, who competed in the 10 km challenge for the third successive year.

Several team members notched up impressive times in different race categories, and the backup and cheering teams gave strong support.
