More than 120 foundation-year students from the mainland and Taiwan participated in a welcoming reception on 11 October aimed at helping to enhance mutual understanding and integration into university life.

The event was organised by the Mainland and External Relations Office at City University of Hong Kong (CityU). In attendance were Professor Way Kuo, University President, Professor Paul Lam Kwan-sing, Vice-President (Student Affairs), Professor Julia Tao Lai Po-wah, Chief-of-Staff, Dr Cheung Chor-yung, Dean of Students, and Dr David Cheng Xing, Associate Vice-President (Mainland and External Relations).

Three undergraduate students from the United States, the mainland and Taiwan shared their learning and life experience at CityU with the foundation-year students during the reception.

They also presented Professor Kuo with three books compiled and written by foundation-year students from the previous year. One contained articles about what it is like to be a foundation-year student, the second was a selection of blog articles and the third contained stories about successful CityU graduates from the mainland.
