In an effort to boost its ties with North American institutions interested in cross-cultural studies, President H K Chang led a five-member delegation on a whirlwind tour of five universities in Canada and the US.

"The trip was very successful in tapping collaborative opportunities with these universities. They are very interested in the activities and resources of our Chinese Civilisation Centre and were very positive about future collaborations and exchanges with us," said Professor Chang.

The delegation, which traveled to North America between 15 to 24 February, consisted of Professor H K Chang, Professor Zhang Longxi, Professor (Chair) of Comparative Literature and Translation and Director of the Centre for Cross-Cultural Studies, Professor Cheng Pei-kai, Director of the Chinese Civilisation Centre, Dr Ma Ka-fai, Assistant Director of the Chinese Civilisation Centre and Ms Pauline Chan, Assistant to the President (Community Relations).

During the nine-day trip, the delegation visited Chinese studies and Asian studies centres and met with professors at the University of Toronto, Princeton University, the University of Michigan, the University of British Columbia and Stanford University.
