Principals get red-carpet treatment

In a prominent display of its dedication to education at all levels, CityU rolled out the red carpet as principals from six local secondary schools were given an exclusive campus tour by Professor Y S Wong, Vice-President for Institutional Advancement.

The visit, on 6 March, included a tour to one of the University's hottest research areas, the Interactive Media and Virtual Reality Laboratory at the Department of Computer Science. "We are indeed fortunate to have such distinguished visitors here," Professor Wong said. "Secondary schools represent the future of CityU-and you, as school principals, are the gatekeepers of our future."

Professor Wong added that the six school principals--Mr Terrence Chang of Diocesan Boys' School, Mr To Yiu Kwan of True Light Girls' College, Mrs Sun Pong Tak Ling of St Catherine's School for Girls, Mr Leung Sau Chi of Cheung Chuk Shan College, Mr Cheung Shiu Yip of Kiangsu-Chekiang College, and Mr Leung Woon Man of the Jockey Club Government Secondary School-represented the best of Hong Kong's secondary school administrators.

After the tour of the Run Run Shaw Library, which features one of the best collections of electronic resources in Asia, the principals were given a tour of the School of Creative Media.

The visit was one of many activities organized by the Offices for Institutional Advancement to foster a spirit of co-operation and create a dialogue between the University and Hong Kong's secondary schools.
