The College of Science has launched its CityU STEM Series, a video series with fruitful Science content about Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Each video is guided by a CityU scientist with content suitable for students of secondary schools.
As a signature event of the College of Science, the second Science Summer Camp was successfully delivered online on 14 & 15 July 2020. Instead of a 5-day programme held on campus, the College has transformed the Science Summer Camp into virtual delivery due to the global outbreak of COVID-19.
Professor Nora Tam, Chair Professor of Department of Chemistry, has been conferred the title of Emeritus Professor upon her retirement on 1 July 2020 in recognition of her distinguished contributions to education, research and professional services during her service at the University.
The College of Science gave away more than 7,000 bottles of alcohol-based sanitizers to 60 secondary schools in Sham Shui Po and Kowloon City, aiming to contribute to anti-virus measures in the neighbourhood.121200
Professor Daniel Ho, Associate Dean (Internationalisation) of the College of Science and Chair Professor of the Department of Mathematics, has received the Teaching Excellence Awards (TEAs) for ‘Innovative Teaching and Learning through Knowledge Transformation for Global Challenges’, and he will also be nominated for consideration of the UGC Teaching Award 2020.000
The College of Science hosted the 6th Annual International Mathematical Modeling Challenge (IMMC) Finalist Presentation Competition for the Region of Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau during 8 and 9 May 2020.
