News and Achievements

Co-organized by the Provost Office and the College of Science, the CityU Science Patent Challenge 2022 has received positive responses from 24 secondary schools. More than 30 secondary school teachers and students from these schools attended an entrepreneurship and intellectual property workshop of the CityU Science Patent Challenge on 8 October 2022.

A Welcome Gathering for the second cohort of the Global Research Enrichment and Technopreneurship (GREAT) students was held on 15 September 2022.

CityU’s State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution (SKLMP) had been officially designated as a Regional Centre of Excellence in Marine Pollution by the Partnership Council of the Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA).

We are proud to share that, young scientists from CityU College of Science have received the Excellent Young Scientists Fund under the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). CityU has a total of 4 awardees this year, and 2 of them are from the Department of Chemistry, under the College of Science.

Applying knowledge learnt in university to help the needy is meaningful. Mr. Alvin Wijaya, a fresh graduate of the Department of Mathematics achieved this and completed the CityU X Sino Grand Challenges Scholars Program (CityU X Sino GCSP) in May 2022 with Gold Award under the patronage of Sino Group.

Freshmen of the College of Science (CSCI) were warmly greeted at the College Orientation held on 23 August 2022.
